Roasted Tomato Salsa

I love homemade salsa, and in every winter/fall my mother used to make this recipe .It tastes great with tortilla chips, you can make a spread or serve with rice and grilled chicken, so here it is the recipe.

What will you need?

·         4  whole tomatoes
·         1 Green chili
·         Salt to taste
·         1/4 cup cilantro leaves
·         1 roughly chopped red onion
·         1/2 teaspoon cumin crushed
·         ½ teaspoon crushed red chili flakes

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 250, in a baking pan place the tomatoes. Roast them for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can turn out the sides.
Once they are beginning to brown, let it cool. Now Peel off the skin and transfer them into a mixing bowl.
Add chopped onion, green chili, and crushed cumin. I like to mix it with hands but if you want a smooth finish; transfer the mixture in food processor. Blend till it gets smooth. I like the chunky texture though.
Garnish with cilantro.

Do you like home made salsa?

  1. This looks really appetizing, Sehar. And considering that for this recipe you roasted the tomatoes, does make the tomato flavour even more profound. I like my salsa a bit chunky, too. And I like salsa with tortilla chips and also a bit in a sandwich wrap with some avocado as well. Great recipe and especially for these long winter months, when we need Vitamin C a bit more. :)
